The DreamStation BiPAP AVAPS is a non-invasive ventilation device designed to support patients who require prescribed bi-level respiratory assistance, including selected patients with sleep-related hypoventilation or other chronic respiratory conditions.

AVAPS stands for Average Volume Assured Pressure Support. It automatically adjusts inspiratory pressure within prescribed limits to help maintain a clinician-selected target tidal volume.

The device supports ventilation pressures up to 30 cmH₂O. EPAP can be configured between 4 and 25 cmH₂O, subject to the therapy mode and prescribed settings.

The DreamStation BiPAP AVAPS supports CPAP, Spontaneous (S), Spontaneous/Timed (S/T), Timed (T), and Pressure Control (PC) modes. AVAPS and AVAPS-AE functionality depend on configuration.

AVAPS adjusts pressure support to help achieve a prescribed tidal volume. AVAPS-AE additionally supports automatic EPAP adjustment to help address upper-airway obstruction, where the feature is enabled.

Yes. It supports a clinician-configurable backup respiratory rate between 1 and 30 breaths per minute in applicable ventilation modes.
